Observations from the press conference today w/ Muschamp

I have been reading up on Will Muschamp since he was announced as our new head coach.
-
Some information I got wrong was that he pronounces his name Moo-shamp. .....Wrong. ---- I heard him pronounce his own name during his press conference today, and it was (Must champ. only without the T. -- So it is MUS champ) -- I had been pronouncing it correctly for the past 5 years or so that I had been aware of him as an up and coming coach and DC , so in my previous post, I thought I was correcting myself, but I was not. -- I was wrong in thinking I was wrong.
-
I did not watch his press conference tonight, because i was busy being awesome and doing awesome stuff, but after I got home I looked it up on line and found the audio. (tried to find the video/audio and could not)
-
-
As I listened to that audio, these are the things 20 things I heard and or had observations about:
-
1. He talked about when he was a kid, and having season tickets in the North End zone but that he had to walk in from the street and walk down to get there. I remember that. --- I played HS football in that stadium when it was like that, before they built that massiveness that it is now, back when the field was still astro turf.
-
2. He talked about Spurrier, and Wuerffel and Tebow. He talked about the legends of Florida helping him, and he included Urban Meyer when he was talking that stuff.
-
3. He said the Gators are going to be a PRO- STYLE offense. --- (personally, I love this idea. Its the best way to recruit kids that want and anticipate playing in the pro's)
4. He talked about his eventual hire as OC, as being a Pro and College guy, with experience in both.
5. He talked about evaluating and playing to what they are and then recruit to what they want to be. (Talk is all that is, Meyer said the same stuff before he allowed Addazio to run the option to the short side of the field with Brantley)
6. He said they are going to run both the 3-4 and the 4-3 defense
7. He talked about the difference in the SEC being the linemen. (true that- there are some big and bad ass linemen in this league across the board)
8.- He said he does not know if he will call the defenses or not , and that it depends on who they hire as the DC. -- Reasonable enough
9. He said he is going to do the best thing For Florida, and that no one has been offered a job to date.(contradicting the news stories that say Applewhite was offered the OC and Smart the DC)
10. The only guy who will be back for sure is our Strength and conditioning coach ---Marriotti.
11. His Kids are named Whit and Jackson..... (How much more southern can you get with names like that.-- AWESOME)
12. He owns a beach house with JIMBO FISHER !!! and HE talks in the third person
13 - He said the Texas community was very good to Will Muschamp ...More Third person
14. He took this job immediately when it was offered. Mack was great, Mack was happy for Will Muschamp (Him talking in the third person some more)
15- He talked about pretending he was Tony Lilly when he was a kid. ( I pretended Like I was Tony Lilly when I was a Kid also when I played sandlot football , how awesome is that)
-
16 -Its funny when dudes talk in the third person
17- his first job was for 17k a year coaching in west Georgia and he lined the fields and did the wash. (I love that about him)
18 - He Gave Credit to a guy named ROY KID who was his head coach when he was coming up as an assistant at Eastern Kentucky. ( a very cool thing to do)
19- Dude lived at 1122 Nw 22nd street when he was a kid Right next door to the Space Ship looking house. -- I have driven by that house on that street a Million times. (Talking about the space ship part, obviously I did not know him when he was a little kid living next door. you can be sure that next time I am on that road I will pay attention to the house next door to that thing)
20- He said his strength is finding the keys to each kid that plays for him (in terms of motivation)
-
And one for good measure. - he quoted his dad and said look: "there's two things that happen in life: -- What happens, and how you react to what happens." (speaking about what he told them in terms of Meyers resignation and his hiring)
-
Overall, I was impressed. He certainly talked a little fast in the initial part of the news conference, but its not every day you are given the keys to one of the five most bad ass football teams in all of College Football. He has those keys now though, and he is understandably excited so I give him a pass on that. In his question and answer portion he was much more measured in the timing of his cadence. I think he may be the guy and that Foley might have gotten this right.

Jumpy Coach

The New Gator Head Coach jumping up in the air. We have a Jumpy Coach.
Nice height too. Who says White Man can't jump?
Its WILL MUSCHAMP, -- Evidently its Pronounced: Mooshamp -
-
Not unhappy with the choice, I think as far as Assistant Coaches getting a promotion to Head Coach, He is one of the prime candidates. Him and Gus Malzahn.
-
Always exciting to watch a new regime take over the program, at least until that point when the preponderance of the evidence indicates the job is to much. -- May or may not happen with this guy. Time will tell. he is Jumpy though, so he has that going for him.

Little replicas of perfectness

Busch Gardens, you evil bitch. tomorrow we shall duel. Your lines are just a minor inconvenience, until of course they kick my ass.
-
Tomorrow though, I will not go unprotected from your evilness. I shall bring multiple 13 year old girls who do not yet have the maturity to be impatient with your bullshit lines. They will still look forward to your rideness - They will not care about the shear and utter bullshit of waiting for 45 minutes to access the wonderfulness that is your rides. No, they will just ride and while they ride, they will scream, It will be screams of joy and it will be awesome.

-
In the future they will be leaders and women of influence. Tomorrow though, I will just consider them as they are: Little replicas of perfectness.

Joe Theisman Talks, My Ears Hurt...

Watching Thursday Night Football and I can't help myself but to comment on Joe Theisman. He causes me pain just listening to him talk. Its like he thinks he is laying down some kind of serious knowledge. He just seems so proud of himself, but in reality, his analysis is like being in a classroom when someone scrapes their finger nails on a chalk board. I need some kind of bleach to pour in my ears to make it feel better.

A little advice for Jeremy Foley, Free of Charge

As a Gator Fan, The aura I sport around on my body is that of arrogance. Although I began following the Gators in the Doug Dickey era of the Mid Nineteen Seventies, when I was a little kid, I also lived in Gainesville during the Spurrier coached era of the Nineteen Nineties, which featured the Six SEC championships, along with that most awesome year of 1996. *

-
The Two National Championships, and even last year's 13 and 1 Runner up in the SEC , under Meyer, also added to my overall sense of College football entitlement. This year was obviously an exception to that persona, but still, with this unexpected turn of events that is the retirement of Urban Meyer for the second and final time in the past year, We must look forward.
-
Urban was such a great coach, we made him quit twice. Well now it's done. You could see the tranquility during his press conference to know it's for real this time. He may be the Lance Armstrong of College Football coaches, in quiting and then un-quiting to try for the Tour DeFrance one more time, but he certainly is not the Brett Favre of the four quit variety, Brett Favre. Yes, he quit that first time last December, but he came back, and when he was riding up the Swiss alps on his little Million Dollar Bicycle that is the Gator Program this past season, he realized what a bitch gravity can be, and now he is done for real. At least for a couple of years anyway.
-
So as a Gator fan I have some suggestions for our Athletic Director, Jeremy Foley,---- Call this guy and hire him:
-

The Hoody....
-
What do you mean he would never quit his current job as the Best Football Coach in the world, at the highest level of all organized football, for arguably the Best team in the NFL this current year, and certainly the most dynastic of team we may ever see in that League?
-
It's the Florida Freaking Gators that are calling you Bill? (this is part of my overall , Gator Loving Arrogance, I spoke about in the first paragraph of this post, that I think he would at least listen)
-
In any event, the Guy drafts, and then subsequently Plays former Florida Gator football players all the time. Jeremy, Just do it, at the very least out of appreciation for all the love he brings our program. I believe his agent is Jimmy Sexton. Pretty sure if you make that phone call then Jimmy will put you on his Christmas Card list for allowing him to negotiate with Mr. Kraft from a position of strength. Might even give you a reach around.
-
/The Billster listens to all his Gator Buddies laugh at him for this outlandish arrogance in thinking Bellicheck would ever Leave the Patriots to come to Gainesville.
//Argues back that its probably an easier gig overall, and we could also probably pay him more money. (there are some Rich ass Bull Gators. ---I personally know a couple of em)
///Gets Mocked by those same Friends for his audacity in even suggesting it.
//// Jimmy Sexton personally calls me to encourage my blogging about this.
-
Okay Fine, Fuck you then mister Jeremy Foley, for not even giving the man a phone call and asking him.
-
What about This Guy then?

That's right. This is the Florida Freaking Gators we are talking about here, and if you don't think we could get Coach Eric Taylor from the fictional town and High School that is Dillon and the Dillon Panthers, then you are just Crazy Jeremy. This Guy invented the Phrase: Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose. That is just awesome Catch Phrasing right there. Is it not?
-
Plus, Every Game those Panthers Play in seems to come down to a last second touchdown to beat an Arch rival in a crucial game that somehow saves the entire town? JEREMY. THAT WOULD BE SUCH AWESOMENESS TO HAVE FOR OUR GATORS! --- Okay forget that Bill Bellicheck Guy, This is the guy to hire.
-
/Bills friends explain the concept of Fiction to him.
// Bill argues that this is for real because he loves watching this show on his HD T.V. and T.V. has never led him astray
-
FINE JEREMY, You just have no imagination. Okay, I love this program and as a Longtime Gator Fan My arrogance that seeps out of the pores of my skin says do not quit when Naysayers say Nay.
-
How about THIS GUY THEN:
JEREMY!! Its The Coach From the WATERBOY, Plus its also The FONZ. Seriously, How awesome would it be to have the FONZ as our Coach? He could just Knock his Knuckles on Brantleys Helmet, and Brantley would automatically be so very awesomely Cool, Just like TEBOW was when we Won all those Foooootbaww Games.
-
/ Fiction is again explained to Bill
// Bill finds himself quite beat down from all the NaySayers on his most excellent advice.
/// Bill realize Nay Sayers say NAY and gives up.
-
Okay then Jeremy, Just call up Dan Mullen and get that deal done. You are Such a party pooper.
* I do realize Coach Spurrier also won us one of those SEC Championships in the 2000's It was just easier to put that little asterisk sign and acknowledge that down here

The end of a 6 year era

The 2010 season for the Florida Gators was like a car wreck from the beginning. The Miami of Ohio game was when the car got a little squirrely. We clipped a guard rail in Alabama, hit a big old ditch against LSU, ran into some highway signs for the Mississippi State Game and ended up hitting a Tree named Lattimore to come to a complete and total stop. (I think Lattimore may still be running) then, as the pine needles from that tree began fluttering down into the cab of the vehicle, a huge branch from that same tree fell off and landed on the roof up in Tallahassee.
-
We were going to get that baby in the shop and fix it up the best we could before driving it down to the Outback Bowl to face the Nittany Lions on January 1rst, but then today we found out our top of the class, award winning driver was done with it all. It was like when Dale Earnhardt died in Daytona. Sure it was a wreck, but it didn't look like something that would end it all. Most Gator Fans were done with the crew Chief in Addazio, but I did not hear anyone seriously think it was time for a new driver.
-
He was our guy, he brought us Two National Titles along with Two SEC championships. He had a long rope, but I don't think he is like most people. I think the indignity of the wreck that was this season, along with the noise in the system about his Crew Chief, was just to much, and he looked at his bank account, and that account was large, and he looked at his beautiful wife, and she was hot and had been by his side for decades, and his kids, and he was like, to hell with all this.
-
This is Florida though. There is some serious cash available to pay someone. Foley, Go get it done, and Thank you Urban. I for one am Very Grateful for all the Florida Win Juice you laid down these past 6 years.

Atlas Shrugged - the movie update

They just finished filming Atlas Shrugged. It goes into post production and should be in the can by January. They are shooting for a release date some time in the second quarter of 2011. - They shot it on a low budget, and it is only the first third of the book. If it sells in theaters, they will make part two, and if that sells, part three.
-
It is a bunch of unknown actors, and the director is making his big screen film debut.
-
This is the actress that will play Dagny Taggert
Her name is Taylor Schilling.
-
I imagine they wont have a bunch of money for promotion, but hey, its the second most popular book ever written in terms of sales. (the Bible is number 1) I think it has a built in audience and will probably do okay if they didn't screw it up to much.
-
Because they are breaking it up into a trilogy, I have hope that they can make it true to Rand's vision.

Coming to a book store near you in March

Coming in March. I believe it is the 6th in the series, the last one came out in the 90's

RIP Don Meredith

Turn out the lights, the party's over

Outback Bowl Bound

Outback bowl? after the year the Gators had? Talk about living the good life and being lucky.... Its like when I try to hit on the 28 year old hotties. Its absurd and crazy, but ever so often you end up in a better bowl game then you probably actually deserve.
-
It all comes down to money and I guess a 7 and 5 Gator Team will probably bring some dollars down here to the Tampa Area. -
-
Have not seen Penn State at all this year, but I am pretty sure they are a better 7 and 5 then our 7 and 5. Anyways, I Know where I will be on New Years Day.

Dexter

Dexter is wearing me out this season. Love that show. Honestly, its about the 5th or 6th season and all I would say to you people that have not seen this show is that I am jealous. How awesome would it be to just rent season one from the beginning and watch this show for like four or five hours a day until you get into the second season , and then the third, and fourth etc until you get all the way through the sixth and current season? --
-
Those of you that have that available for your entertainment are in for some great t.v. watching.

Bama hating

You know whats funny about this one? everything, but especially when they talk about winning 13 thousand National Championships and that McElroy had only lost one game since middle school. - Of all 12 SeC schools, I hate Bama the most.

Addazio talking to Brantley while thinking He is talking with Tebow

Kid you not, I frequently have discussed the fact that Addazio does not even know who the current Florida Gators are: This cracks me up alot.

The one where Bill thinks back

Here I am, riding the ferry, across the Mississippi River, from the East Side of New Orleans to the French Quarter. Looking at the City, which incredibly, is below the berm. That was always amazing to me, a whole city below the water line. I am holding my Wife's hand as she calls back home to check in on how our 10 month old daughter is doing, My mom was watching her.
-
The moon is out, but so are the clouds, they are battling, but ultimately, they reach a truce. The moon is not fully covered, but nor is it fully hidden. The ride across the river wasn't that slow relatively speaking, only about thirty minutes, but time was sneaking past us much faster than that, without us even knowing.
-
There I am, sitting on the front porch of the first house smoking a cigar, talking about how our life is supposed to be. A Life of abundance, A life of adventure and travelling. A life worth living. Together. With our kids. With my wife as a family.
-
Then there was the work, the struggle to get promoted, to earn more, to save, to make everything comfortable. To compete, to make something out of my career. To be worthy. To do what I needed to do, to make it all come true.
-
It was a building type of thing. Build a life, build happiness, make something, but enjoy the process along the way. Which ties this remembrance of mine, back to those trips to New Orleans, also the various trips to New York, the time we went back to my college town, and the time on that porch. I remember buying the big four bedroom home together, having those kids of ours, building the landscape by the back deck as a team. The Christmases x 10, all the Thanksgivings, the welcoming in of the multiple New Years.
-
It all died. She will tell you it was that one night, I will tell you that was just the final period at the end of the chapter that she had been writing for several years prior to that. It doesn't matter though. It ended up in complete and total failure.
-
Life goes on though. Life keeps plugging away , like those nights crossing the river in New Orleans, It may seem to take forever to get from the one side to the other, but in reality, it was only about thirty minutes. Nearly four years have gone by now, but the ferry in New Orleans still goes from one side to the other, about every thirty minutes. One side to the other, four years worth of picking up and dropping off, but now when I ride it, I ride it alone.
-
My Mom is dead now. My daughter is almost fourteen. We also have a ten year old son. The Life of abundance is still somewhere off in the future. The divisiveness divided and the division is really just a form of subtraction, its just less now.

Jack Handy

"If you're at a Thanksgiving dinner, but you don't like the stuffing or the cranberry sauce or anything else, just pretend like you're eating it, but instead, put it all in your lap and form it into a big mushy ball. Then, later, when you're out back having cigars with the boys, let out a big fake cough and throw the ball to the ground. Then say, 'Boy, these are good cigars!'"-- Jack Handy

Bad Husbanding

Staring down the Holidays while juggling Chainsaws

The Holidays are on their way. I think of them kind of like I am standing on a train track and they are the train, My shoes are stuck under the railroad ties, and I get hypnotized by the shiny headlight of the train, plus the whistle and chug a chug chug chug sound it makes as it barrels towards me.
-
Its the time of year that work always ratchets up a little bit, which coincides with all the distractions of the season, so I am not on top of my game, at the same time, the pressure is increasing. As a professional Chain Saw Juggler, this is not a good scenario.
-
Where did the year go? It was mostly relatively smooth sailing, but the last month is the storm and the boat is in need of maintenance, but there is no time to take it into the marina. Thank goodness there will be wine.

The Phillip Rivers Conundrum

In one of the fantasy leagues I am in, I have Phillip Rivers (plus Jabar Gaffney), going tonight. The guy I am playing is done, but is also quite a few points ahead of me. In the other one, the guy I am playing has him. (I am done, but have a medium to small sized lead)
-
In the one where he is on my roster I need him to absolutely blow up to have any kind of chance to win.
-
In the other, I need him to play poorly and mostly hand the ball off.
-
My prediction: He will do enough for the other guy that has him to pass me, but not enough for me to catch the other guy, and I will end up losing in both leagues.
-
I think next year I am going to quit one of these leagues. I hate this conundrum.

Appalachian State says Shush

No, YOU SHUSH... Just cause you are 9 and 1 in your lower division of college football, does not mean you can come into the swamp and beat the Gators.
-
We have superior athletes and the only way that could possibly happen would be if somehow the Gators got out coached. -- No way that happens. Our Coaches are creative and able to adjust on the fly and ALWAYS have imaginative play calling......... Oh wait... Shoot.... Never mind...

The slow bleedout

First noticed the blood running out from my wrist when the gators played so horribly against Miami of Ohio. I didn't think much of it though, You know, Just get a band aid, it was that type of thought process.
-
Alabama gave the Gators their first loss this year. At that point, I was like, Hey man Bama is good, this blood running out of my wrist will coagulate soon. Then we had the over the shoulder bounce lateral to the kicker against LSU at Home.--- Followed the next week by the full seven points scored against Mississippi State at home, and I was like HEY, this thing keeps bleeding! Stop the bleeding here! this is getting kind of alarming!
-
Saturday Night was like sitting in the bathtub watching the life drip out as Lattimore kept pounding on our defense. when it was over (and it was over at halftime) Florida was just a bloodless carcass - Season over. The halftime adjustment we needed to make was to fire Addazio. This season bled out slowly and now its over. Going through the motions with Appalachian State, then Florida State, plus a crummy little bowl game, probably the humanitarian or another crummy little place. Maybe Detroit. -
-
New re-incarnation next year though. Another chance .. a new season... Just a long wait and of course we have those two other meaningless Saturdays and then the crumfest crummybowl to look forward to---

So Sad.

Go Gators

Gainesville, on a big game weekend is one of the most beautiful things you can see in this world.
-
It's not like it isn't a great place to be when they are playing the FAU Owls, or some other poor sister of the homeless in early September, because it is, ---but Gainesville on a home football game weekend, for a chance to win something tangible, in November, is awesomeness defined. There is an intensity level about the pre-game tailgate that is generally not matched.
-
The awesomeness magnifies itself into a pure goose bump causing frenzy when it happens to be a big game like it is this Saturday, and when you are playing another SEC opponent for the right to win awesome stuff on a future Saturday night, then damn it, that's what its all about.
-
I may be immature for caring about this stuff as much as I do, especially, since I have been concerned about the fate of the Gators since the third grade, but call me whatever you want, as long as you call it the way it is, And the way it is: is that the gator Nation is alive and well . .except of course the part where it's struggling . -
-
Here is to my specialness, as defined by being a Gator fan , and I mean that in only the best way you can think about it, and here it is to beating South Carolina on a fall like autumn day tomorrow.
-
Go Gators ..-

Bill Werther

Big Game this weekend in Gainesville

This Saturday in the Swamp, The Gators and the Gamecocks are going to be playing Football. This is not just any game either. This game is for some stuff.
-
1) It's being played for an SEC Eastern Division Championship.
2) It's being played for a Chance to win the S.E.C. -- Winner has a shot at it.
3) In the case of Florida its a Chance for a small measure of redemption on what has been a hard season, by Florida's standards.
4) Win this game on Saturday and the chance to make it to a BCS game stays alive, because the loser is going to some crummy little bowl game.
-
Urban has called for a blue out. Urban has asked for intensity from the crowd. Urban knows this is a big game.
-
The Billster is making a little road trip up to Gainesville this weekend, gonna wear my blue, gonna bring the yell. I will be sweating out some intensity.

My Daughter the Tutor to Asian Kids in Math

While driving down from Gainesville to Tampa on Friday Night, My daughter was telling me how she might get into the International Baccalaureate program at Eastside High School. ---U.S. News and World Report rates that particular High School as the 15th best High School in the Country because of that program . (its look- up-able if you think I am pulling your leg)
-
She is in the Middle school equivalent of the I/B program in Alachua County right now, and she was telling me how she tutors an Asian Kid in Math. She is so proud of that. -- So am I...Plus it just strikes me as kind of funny.

Serendipity? Am I supposed to learn something?

I heard this today at a Luncheon I attended : " People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel." - It is a quote from Maya Angelou
-
Then I was goofing around on the internet tonight and saw it again: ---"People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel."
-
I think I am supposed to think about that a little bit because seriously, Twice in one day?

RIP Mom

My Mom: Born 9-10-1947 died 11-4-2007 - Three years ago today.

This picture was taken around 1970

The Florida Gators and the Movie Top Gun

When "Goose" was killed during a training incident in the movie Top Gun , that was like Florida losing to Alabama earlier in the year. In case you don't follow Florida Gator Football closely, like I do, the exact moment Goose was killed was when Burton threw the Jump Pass Interception at the goal line.
-
At that point in the game we had just drove the ball right down the field like a hot knife through soft butter. When we did not score at the goal line, and threw that pick, that was when Goose died, and Maverick (the Florida Gators) went into a funk. It wasn't that the Florida Gators suddenly didn't have some of the best talent in the nation, They always have, it was at that exact point, the coaching staff and the players, lost their swagger. It was just like when Maverick lost his.
-
When Florida lost to LSU and MISS STATE the following weeks, that was the part in the movie Top Gun when Maverick, played by Tom Cruise, rode around on his motorcycle brooding about his father's legacy and feeling guilty about that jump pass on the goal line.
-
The Gator fans played the part of Ice Man and got in Mavericks grille a little bit. "Maverick You're Dangerous" is what the Ice man told Maverick -- That quote can be translated into the language that the fans of Gator Nation speak, and reads like this: "Addazio, you suck as a play caller"
-
Beating Georgia was when Maverick got assigned to an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. -- Maverick had the cred to get that gig, and Florida Beat Georgia because, Hey, that's our thing, that's the Florida Gator Cred, It's what we do, at least for the most part during the last 21 years. (an 18 and 3 record)
-
The upcoming games against Vanderbilt and South Carolina will hopefully be the part where Maverick Throws Goose's dog tags in the Indian Ocean with that Girlish looking throwing motion, regains his swagger, shoots down the Migs, moves back to California and hooks back up with Kelly McGillis' Character. (Charlie)
-
At the end of the movie, during the final dogfight scene, Maverick said: "I will not leave my wingman" Translated into Gator Football fandom it sounds allot like this: "All the Gators have to do is beat Vandy and South Carolina and we can go back to Atlanta and have another chance"
-
Whatever happened to Kelly McGillis anyway? Is she living in Atlanta now? That chick was hot, and winning the SEC is also pretty damn sexy.
-
So here is to the Gators hooking up with the 1980's version of Kelly McGinnis.

-(attached is a video. It's about 9 minutes. If you are committed to this post, then watch it now, because it will act like a refresher course. for the rest of this post. honestly the shit they say in this video will have gator translations to follow but if you don't take the time to watch the video, then the rest of the post may not make sense for you)

* When Hollywood got hit, and goes down, that was when the Florida Gators lost to Mississippi State. - (just some more bad news when you are ready for some good news)

* When they reference going through "His" (the Migs) Jet-wash. -- that's like having LSU do a fake field goal with a Bounce Lateral to the kicker. Just crazy that it worked and also that the jet-wash didn't Mess them up all to hell (like a lateral bounce pass to a kicker would not completely cause an F-14 to lose their shit)

* When they talk about " two Migs dead ahead" That is Vandy and South Carolina.

* when they talk about it being 5 migs? and not Four? thats when they are talking about Lattimore. He is not just one Running back, he is a Beast of a running back. (its scary to think about just having to beat South Carolina but South Carolina with Lattimore running the rock.

* When they say " check the guys to the north" that is the fandom talking about the SEC WEST. They are basically saying hey, why the hell do you even want to win the East when you have to face the winner of the west? who for all purposes will kick your ass"

* When they talk about " Not getting a tone" that's the same thing as Gator fandom saying Even if we do get to Atlanta are we going to be able to do anything anyways? "

* when Maverick tells Merlin that he is: " gonna hit the breaks and let them fly right by me" that's the Gator Nation telling the doubters that the WEST can Kiss it. they may have the winner of the east in their sights, but we may just kick their ass in Atlanta for the spite of it.... all about hitting the breaks and letting them fly right bye....

Great Holidays: Labor Day, Memorial Day, July 4th , New years Day

Okay Holidays: Thanksgiving

Holidays I dislike: Halloween, Christmas
-
The Great Holidays are about having a three day weekend and no real obligations. I make sure to appreciate the military every day, and especially on Memorial day. I also appreciate the extra day off. Lots of times the Labor Day, Memorial Day, July 4th holiday involves hanging with friends, drinking a beer, firing up the grill etc. New Years Day is a day you generally get off and there is football all day long.
-
Thanksgiving -- Never been my thing. I like the food, I like Having the football on, and the two day off thing. Sometimes it can be stressful with family though, and then all the cleaning up. Don't get me wrong, Love my family but sometimes having them all together at the same time just seemed kind of like a job. Still does.
-
Halloween with all the dressing up and the kids knocking on your door for several hours, plus, I like Candy allot, but I generally know better, but when there is so much of it...just laying around, begging to be eaten... .
-
Christmas... Most pressure filled Holiday of them all. Its all about the presents. Its all about meeting expectations, not failing -- I usually always feel like I fail at Christmas ... I like it okay when it is over I guess.
-
My favorite holiday? -- Super Bowl Sunday... I love that day, and it is a holiday. Its a thing Americans do,----- it just doesn't have an officalness to it.

Rainey's Pumpkin

Chris Rainey is going to be back for tomorrows little Cocktail party. --- Pretty Sure Addazio is going to have him alternate with demps in running into the middle of Georgia's Defensive line.

Liz Murray, A book review, and general appreciation.

Finished reading " Breaking Night" by Liz Murray, with tears running down my cheek. - I just Couldn't help it, that woman is inspirational, and her life story is incredible.I say that, realizing I am giving up my masculinity to a degree by admitting this,..... I don't care.
-
This book moved me, and it makes you contemplate lots of stuff.
-
For someone to be homeless at fifteen years old, and a Harvard Graduate at twenty nine, well, that's just three standard Deviations on a bell curve right there, hell, it may be four standard Deviations.
-
You can be born into a rich, loving family, have all kinds of support in the form of love and guidance from your parents, have access to the best tutors, and the best prep schools etc, and still, Harvard may reject you.
-
In the game of "Getting into Harvard" some of the best of the best, get rejected, and they are playing on a level field. Liz Murray's field was a boulder ass, gravel strewn, up hill Mountain of a thing.
-
The field she dealt with had all types of venomous snakes, poison Ivy, empty syringes and weeds all over that thing. ----Life wasn't fair to Liz Murray from the beginning, but Liz Murray kicked some ass anyways.
-
Honestly, she is a great human being. She made something of herself and did it with out becoming bitter towards her parents. She loves them, even though they clearly and obviously failed her miserably. This, in and of itself is quite awesome.
-
Her ability to accept responsibility for herself is like being able to figure out addition and subtraction, but then suddenly comprehending calculus. Nothing in her life trained her to take that type of responsibility, except for her inner soul. and most inner souls just don't get calculus.
-
She took responsibility for her life even though, by all rights, she should have failed.
-
Quick Summary.... Life will throw a sledge hammer on your head.
Duck the sledgehammers that are flying at your head, see if you can eventually grab a hold of the wooden part of that hammer, and re-direct it to the point that you end up giving speeches with the Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton and other high achievers.-- Have a movie made about your life, reconcile your family, and make the world your oyster. Never quit being yourself and always send out the love vibes. .
-
For all that is good in the world, buy this book, read it, then buy another one to send to someone you love.
-
Signed, -----A guy who will buy multiple copies of that thing so I can not only send it to people I love, but also people I just like allot.

-

Thank you Liz Murray, You inspire me.

Florida Georgia Week

It's Florida Georgia Week. - Ordinarily this is one of my favorite weeks. It's something to look forward to, It still is, I just don't know if the Gators can hang with them this year.
-
Our offense is all about lousy play calling and resultant three and outs that seems to be our weekly Game plan now, except when we fumble the ball away and don't even get the three and outs, and all we get are the "outs".
-
My Goodness, look at Mark Richt being all tough in front of all those sorority girls in the background. - It just strikes terror in the heart of all Gator Fans this year.

Plus look at their nutty fans with all the nuttiness.

-
I missed the Gators this past week while they were on bye. I did watch that Auburn LSU game, and luckily for me I pulled for the LSU Tigers from the initial kickoff until the very end when Cameron Newton was elected Governor of Alabama. Its four weeks in a row pulling for a team that gets beat. Maybe this week things will be different.

Photos and stuff from this past weekend with my kids

Some Random Photos of this past weekend with my kids.
-
Right before this picture was taken, they were arguing with each other and I told them
to shut their pie holes in an Angry type voice. They Immediately went to manipulation mode. They posed for this picture all sweet like, and went over the top with being loving to each other.

This photo was at the park. Instead of watching NFL Football I was playing Frisbee at the park with them.

It was just in the news today about that Beer Can looking building that the development company has not been paid by the leasor since July. The development company is suing the Leasing Company. The Tenants have evidently paid the leasing company so they might end up getting the ultimate beat down on this deal. The tenant is SYKES. they are a Call Center Company. Bet you thought all those companies were in India. Well here is one of the last remaining American Call Centers and it looks like they are going down if the leasing company is going to mess up.

This is the newly opened Children's Museum. I have not yet taken them to see it but Will do so in the next few months. In the background is an apartment building that I would love to move into, but the rent is still a little bit to steep.

The full height of the Building I want to move into.

My Boy, wearing his Tony McCoy Jersey. --- McCoy has been playing okay so far in his rookie year but he still has Zero Sacks. He needs to ramp up the pressure for the 3 and 2 Bucs.

My Eldest and my Youngest, Being Nice to each other.

My Eldest making "Cute" faces and My Boy with Googly eyes.
Some more Cuteness.
My Daughter. - True Story..... She wanted to go see the movie Social Network very badly so even though I suspected my son would not enjoy it much I decided to take them anyway (I also kind of wanted to see it, and figured I would buy the boy some popcorn and candy and he would just deal) He ended up liking it so it was a win, win, win situation.
-
After we parked my car in the Garage area for the Movie Place. My Daughter found a Dime on the ground. She said: "Look Daddy I FOUND A DIME" Its so much better than finding a Penny! Its kind of like finding Ten Pennies! - Its just so much more efficient to just find one Dime than to have to find Ten Pennies ! - Its true, and it made me laugh.

-
On Saturday we went to Three Stores to find her Halloween Costume. Finally she absolutely fell in love with this M&M costume and we got it for her. She said she is going to hang it up on her wall after Halloween so its not only a costume but its also going to be some ART!

Sadness

Steve Addazio --- Look at all the sadness. It's everywhere. You are destroying a beautiful College Football Program almost single handily. Little Girls are crying on my blog because of you.

- Steve, This little girl is Sad because you don't have any rhythm in your play calling. Not only do you not have any rhythm, You don't seem to understand the game of Football, which is really strange considering that your job is Offensive Coordinator of a perennially top ranked College Football team and that in and of itself is also sad.

(photo from pfs)
Hot chicks are sad because of you STEVE. -- Look at her, she is hot, and she is sad, and you made her that way. She can't bare to look because it hurts her eyes. Steve, Quit hurting our eyes with your silly little ideal of play calling. Quit making everyone in Gator Nation Sad.
(photo from pfs)
Steve - These College Kids only get to go to Florida for 4 or 5 years or so, and now forever and ever they will have to reference this year of their college careers as "that one where Steve Addazio made me sad"

(photo from pfs)
This is your boss. He is Sad. You have made him that way. He Likes you though and evidently has a high tolerance for Sadness so he puts up with you instead of demoting you. He is ultimately responsible, and if you are still there as the OC in the 2011 college football season then Me and hundreds of other thousands like me will quit being mad at you for making us so sad and re-direct the sadness to him. (I will put up with him making me sad for much longer then I can put up with you making me sad, because he was so good to us since he has been here. He has a 3 year sadness leash with me. Your sadness leash however is all used up. You made me sad some last year, but it has only gotten worse this year.)

-
Steve ---- That is a Sad Tear. It is a tear filled with memories of how it did not used to be sad around Gator Nation. Steve - do the right thing and turn in your resignation. Sad is no way to go through life as a college football fan.
