things kids will argue about

Recently, Wells Fargo took over Wachovia. My daughter's Joke on that takeover is: Well I guess Wells Fargo is going to wachovia money. (read and pronounce wachovia like this: watch ovia)

-
She told that joke to us, (me and her brother) but then her brother used it in front of a cashier and got a laugh. She felt like He was stealing her Jokes and we had to discuss plagiarism/ and rights to jokes etc.

Funny dinner dialogue

Took my kids to an Italian Restaurant tonight. My Daughter had Fettucine Alfredo, and My son and I ordered a pizza. My boy ate two pieces and I wanted to make sure he had enough to eat, so I encouraged him to have a third slice. He was adamant that he was full, but I pushed it again. "come on, have another piece of pizza " I said.

-
My daughter chimed in on the conversation, and very intelligently said; "Part of the problem with the Childhood Obesity epidemic in America, are parents pushing their kids to eat more then they should"
-
Without missing a beat, and clearly not having the vocabulary to fully understand what His Sister had just said, My son said: "Plus I might get fat"
-
Maybe you had to be there, but that was some funny dialogue.

Yeah FOOTBALL

Probably wrong to let this day go by without noting that the NFL Strike is finally over and just in time too. The Bucs will be huddling up soon. The Game will be back.

My Saturdays and Sundays will soon be wasted watching football. (like its really a waste)

Need some Batting practice speed

The speed of life is just freaking frenetic. I want it to slow down. Its like facing Randy Johnson. Dude is throwing Heat and I am taking my cuts, but mostly striking out, plus hoping he doesn't get wild and throw one in my ear. I just want some batting practice Speed so I can hit a few line drives. I am tired of Randy Johnson Gas getting blown by me.

Cool Cell phone

Just a few weeks ago I heard about an app you can get on your phone that allows you to use it as a remote control. After researching it I found out it was something that you had to sync with your T.V. - I already have a remote control for my T.V. so it lost its charm for me, but now this new phone, I have to have this

Back stories

When I am in a populated public place like I was yesterday at Tropicana field, I often think about the back stories of the other people around me. Everyone comes from somewhere, everyone has stuff going on in their lives. We were there to watch a baseball game, but because of the nature of the game and the pace, its a time where you can talk and think about other stuff as well.
-
My Son loved the giant video screen that showed the players as avatars in the game MLB12. He told me multiple times how he wants that game for his Wii. Kid has a birthday soon and he will probably get it.
-
My daughter had her friend with her and they talked about things 14 year old girls talk about.
-
The Red Sox fan sitting next to me had driven from Boston along with her Dad the day before, not so much because of the game, but because she was moving here, and the Sox just happened to be in town.
-
She chose to move here because she was going through a divorce and wanted a fresh start on life. She sees herself going to the beach and living in the sun. Her Dad will be flying back this week.
-
There were 30 something thousand other people at the game yesterday, they all have stuff going on in their life. I wonder what their stories are, I wonder how many of them are struggling, how many are on top of their stuff, how many are going down the wrong paths because their circumstances to that point have led them that way. How many were happy, how many were sad.

Rays vs Boston

Rays game today with the little Werthers plus my Daughter's friend. Baseball and Hotdogs, that is some living right there.

-
My Daughter's dream is to go to Harvard. I fully support this, and will do whatever it takes to help her make that happen, but I have already told her that when she moves up to Boston for College, she should not become a Red Sox Fan. I am hoping that today, when we run into a bunch of Sox Fans, and she sees how arrogant and entitled they are, that it will go a long way towards developing her anti Sox mindset.
-
Fathering, I am just great at it!

A post to help me remember this past weekend

Took My oldest kid to NYC this past weekend. She said it was the best 4 days of her life. It was pretty awesome seeing it with her, and through her eyes.

-
We saw the building they are erecting to replace the World Trade Center. It is coming along nicely.
-
We went down to Wall Street and saw the New York Stock Exchange, plus the Wall street Bull. Fun fact, the bull is not actually on Wall Street. Its on Broadway. We went to see the Play; Billy Elliott, on Broadway, Except even though it's a Broadway play, it was actually on 44th street. We went to Times Square, the Flat Iron Building, China Town, and Little Italy.
-
They had a Harry Potter exhibit in the Discovery building which was near the theater where we saw the Billy Elliot play.
-
We went to the top of the Rockefeller center and the top of the Empire State Building. We rode the subway all over that town, and went to see the Statute of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. We rented some bikes and toured all over Central Park.
-
We saw the UN building and the Flat Iron Building. We met a friend of mine in China Town and on the way there, we saw a bucket full of Frogs. (they were for sale, 4.99 a lb)
-
We saw some break dancers in the street when we were walking back from the fire Works show they had on the fourth of July, and then a street preacher who looked more like a pimp, but he was definitely preaching. We gave a dollar to about 5 homeless people, maybe 6, we lost count . We talked with a couple of New Yorkers on the subway, had a really good dinner down in Greenwich village and saw a tranny walking down the street.
-
I took her to see Grand Central Station and we also ate some NY Pizza at Rays. We had some Hot Dogs from some street vendors and we also went to Moma. We got yelled at by the security guard for taking a picture of Van Gogh's Starry night with the flash still on, and we also rode a bunch of elevators in the Macy's on 34th Street.
-
We ate at some little diners, and we shopped in the Garment District. (as well as a bunch of other stores my kid made me go in while we were walking, including the M and M store and the most awesome Toys R Us.) - Plus we saw Washington square and a guy playing a Piano right under the Arch.
-
Took her to a Comedy Club in Times Square and we laughed. -
-
Good times, I am looking forward to taking my Youngest child in a couple of years from now.
