wasting a blog post

Seems like some interesting things have happened lately, but I don't believe it is in My best interest to write about them here on my blog.

So absent those couple of interesting things, My life has been pretty mundane. Just the basics, go to work, maybe get a run on, Read a book, Watch some T.V. - do some of those interesting things, Maybe drink a couple of beers at the Bar nearby. Just live a pretty mundane life.

-

I would like to know why a Bird's Poop is white, and pretty much every other animal poops brown.

Sports are important and this is my argument why.

Tonight was just a great night. Hang on for just a second because I feel like I need to go out and buy myself an Ascot and a smoking jacket, because I am feeling all High Falutin and stuff.

-

Picture me sipping on some 80 year old Grand Marnier while wearing my Ascot, and smoking jacket, while I sit in some leather upholstered chairs in my private Library.

-

That is my impression of an aristocratic snob who thinks the Arts, and Opera and stuff like that are somehow above watching athletic competition.

-

To be clear I love great Art, or great music and Theater. Truthfully, I do. I remember staring at, Van Gogh's "Starry Night" for 15 minutes straight and just thinking that as many times as I have seen a print of that thing, it still blew me away to see the actual painting itself. I have seen "Hair" on Broadway. I went in thinking to myself that it's a fucking musical, and left thinking -"holy shit, that was awesome"

As much as I Know that the Art's and theater and stuff can move you, I also know there is nothing like watching great athletes play sports at the highest levels.

-

Tonight I watched two really good College Basketball teams play a game for the right to play in another game on Saturday and it was just like all that other stuff.

-

There were a lot of missed shots. Both sides missed a bunch, but it wasn't because they were not any good, it was because each team played with Passion and they hustled and that included playing defense.

-

BYU had the best player on the court, but Florida had the better team. In the end, the Gators won but the back and forth nature and the passion that came through the television did some kind of Osmosis into my body. Damn, that was just a great experience. I honestly believe if BYU would have won, I would have walked away appreciative of the effort on both sides even though the Gators winning made it all that much more sweeter.

Don't tell me sports are not important. When you see greatness in Sports, it's the same when you see it in Literature or plays or Art or Movies. When you see Awesomeness in Sports, it really is no different. It is something that touches you inside and is just as important as any other job. That is why I hate when people say sports aren't important. They are just as important as anything else is in life.

It is a reason why I hated that after the World Trade Center attack, both the MLB, Pro Football and College football all quit for awhile. Their basis for doing that was that it just seemed trivial in comparison. I promise you it was no less trivial then My Job was and we damn sure went right back to work the next day.

-

If anything, Big Time Sports are more important then the regular jobs, because when they are at their best like they were tonight they are uplifting to the human soul.

Car Maintenance

Had to take my car into the shop for regular maintenance today and the service advisor told me about a bunch of other problems that I didn't even know It had. It was like going into the doctor for a regular checkup and coming out sweating the biopsy and hoping it was not malignant. It was like landing on Chance in the game of Monopoly and getting that shitty card that says you get ten dollars for coming in second in a beauty contest. Good to get the ten bucks and know your car is not going to give you any problems, bad because second is really only the first loser, Plus, you know, spending the few hundred extra dollars that I didn't know I was going to spend when I woke up this morning.

Anyhow, I listened to them and tried to figure out how much of what they were saying was bullshit and how much was important. It was especially difficult because the service advisor was smoking hot, and I wanted her to think I knew at least as much about car engines as she does.

-

Deep down though, we both know, in that regard, she is more of a man then I am. Very Emasculating stuff, but I am still pretty sure She Can't pee while standing up. Don't get me wrong, I am comfortable enough with what I do know about car engines, and really see no need to become more knowledgeable because of the time and effort it would take. I will totally try to get that same service advisor the next time I take my car into the shop, because, well because, yeah, she was hot and competent and thats just sexy.

Bill Gets disgusted

A little bit of a rant coming on. First of all, How stupid are pedophiles? You people are disgusting and when I say you people, I do not give you sick motherfuckers any credit whatsoever.

Pedophiles are just total shit. - secondly, how stupid are you to keep getting caught? You guys think you are talking to a little boy or a little Girl on the Internet, and then you think you are going to meet them? You people are fucking stupid. This all came up because of a 20/20 type sting that just went on in Tampa. Amazingly they caught like 30 sick fuckers this past weekend. You fuckers make me want to burn my skin because I imagine that you have skin, just like I do, ---and the fact that we share that trait sickens me. Death to all you fuckers. you are flat out disgusting.

More rant -- I will kill a motherfucker that ever messes with my kids. Obviously I would try to get out of doing prison time for doing that, by hiring the best lawyers I could find, but I would instruct them that the defense I want to use is that the sick bastard that messed with either one of my kids needed killing, and I just did the thing that needed to be done. So Yes, could I kill another human being? Pretty damn sure I could. Plus, I could do it under the right circumstances with no remorse what-so-ever. Ummmmm yes, yes I could. --- Not even going to link the story I am talking about. just imagine 20 20 Plus, Imagine me killing someone with zero remorse....

sweet sixteen here we come

Had some tickets to go see Kenney Chesney this past weekend except I chose to go drink some beers at the Gator Basketball game instead. Kenny is just a Buffet wannabee, but the gators making it to the suite sixteen right in front of your face is something alltogether different.

Getting Mocked for rocking the Red Razor

New thing lately is for my friends to mock me because of my outdated Cell Phone. I rock a razor. Its so very 2002. Everyone goes around with their Smart phones nowadays, whereas I still use the old flippy Red Razor. They treat it like a celebrity sighting.

Cowboy Son

It was ill advised. I was in the moment. I was in Texas, and not only that, It was the largest Country bar ever. They had a gift shop, and again, I admit it was ill advised, and not only that, I already had quite a few beers, so what the hell, when in Ancient Rome, wear a toga, When in Texas wear a Cowboy Hat.

I tried it on and then bought it, but just like you should not drive drunk, you shouldn't buy Cowboy Hats when you are drunk either. It almost fit, but "almost" is the key word. It was to small. I wore it that night in the bar, but the next day when I sobered up, it was clear the thing was just to damn small. For me.

Its just a little big for my son, but he will grow into it.

I Read in today's Gainesville Sun that the Character of Mickey Haller is based loosely on Dan Daly. Mr. Daly used to be The Author's roommate when they went to The University of Florida. Dan is now a Criminal defense attorney in Gainesville.

Translation for rednecks!

This past Saturday I took my kids over to Melbourne to see my Grandma on her 91stBirthday. My Dad came up From Miami, and we all went to the Red Lobster for Lunch. She seemed like she really had a good time.

Then on the way back over to Tampa, We stopped at a camp on the St. Johns River to ride in an Airboat and saw this sign.

The transition from being in that one moment, to having your face bleed

I love when its raining in the morning and you just wake up in your bed from sleeping. It's around 6:30 in the morning and It's about 60 degrees, but you are under the covers, so its perfect. You know you should get up, but you also know that you can afford to just lay there for at least another 20 minutes.

-

When you first wake up in that situation, you just find yourself loving every thing about it. It's cold, but you are under the covers. Your awake, but still completely relaxed in the bed and the pillows are actually just an extension of yourself. They are like part of your own head. The noise the rain makes is like Music. For a few minutes You are in the moment.

-

Doesn't take long though, and thoughts start coming into your head to mess it all up. For me, it began with worrying if the Bucs are going to give Tiki Barber a chance for his comeback. Its well known that Raheem Morris loves Rhonde Barber and they would only need to pay Tiki the veteran Minimum, so they just might do it. That would be so messed up because Tiki seems like such an asshole and he might ruin the chemistry of that team .

Then I started thinking about the T.V. Show: How I met your Mother. When the hell are we ever going to see when Ted actually meets her? Love that show, but damn, lets just meet her already.

-

After that, I started thinking about the work related issues I am dealing with, and before you know it, You realize you are not in the moment anymore. You are not enjoying the coldness thats cancelled out by the covers, or the rain pattering down like music, and the pillows being a part of your head, so you try to get back to that place. Only now, your mind is racing. What the hell is the deal with the Miami Heat? What time is it? Have I laid here to long and now I am not going to have time to eat some breakfast? I should have bought some more razors because the one I am using is getting dull. I wish I lived closer to my work so I could lay here longer and try to get back to that place where I just was when I had woken up to the 60 degree weather with the canceling out covers, and the pillows that were part of my head.

You can't do it, you can't get there now. You are awake, and it's time to deal with the day. I only barely cut myself shaving this morning. It hardly bled at all. I did not get to wet going from my apartment to the car, because at least by the time I had taken my shower, cut myself shaving, got dressed and rushed out without having the time to eat breakfast, the rain that was coming down like Music back when I was in that special place, had let up enough so the music it was playing was more like a piccolo solo.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Finished reading the Lincoln Lawyer Just in time for it to come out in the theaters Next weekend. Excellent story, solid writing and good pacing.

Looking forward to seeing the movie.

Mixed Emotions

Watching this makes me feel Joy and Sadness all at the same time.

That is a weird combination. It's like eating a Salty, and Sweet, piece of Pizza, and not hating that, or putting Hot Sauce, (which I love) on Ice cream, which I also love. You just never think of mixing those flavors and yet here is a mix of flavors for your eyes. - Your Eyes and your emotions are just more advanced than your taste-buds. They can process the contradictions inherent in the visual.

Overall, I realize the Joy in watching this truly out-weighs the underlying sadness, otherwise you really could not stand it. I have watched it about ten times, and each time it makes me cry. I honestly don't want to watch it enough where I don't.

Some things I did this weekend

- This weekend I met a guy who lost his son. Parents are not supposed to outlive their children. I just told him how I could not even imagine, and that furthermore I can't even try to imagine it.

-

Had a lot of good beer at the festival, Had a couple of beers that sucked as well.

-

Rode that Trolly and shared it with as many people as would fit. Every single seat was filled, and the aisle was standing room only.

-

Saw the Adjustment Bureau, and was kind of disappointed.

-

Drank a really good bottle of wine this weekend as well.

This is a Great Country and I know because I shared some wine tonight with a Great American

You can file this under stuff that might only interest me, but damn if it wasn't fascinating.

I met a Colonel tonight, he was recently stationed here in Tampa, At Mac Dill. His job is to basically coordinate laying multiple railroad lines in Afghanistan.

-

The United States Army has researched the minerals lying underneath the Country of Afghanistan and have found it to be rich in Iron Ore and some other Minerals as well. They also are aware that the Taliban takes advantage of the serious lack of wealth within that country, and they basically hire people to their side at really minimal money.

-

Long Term, the military believes that if they can teach the people to take advantage of the Natural Resources available in Afghanistan and make money from that, they will not be so eager to follow the ridiculous ways and the influence of the Taliban. They believe many of the people they are fighting and who are shooting guns at American Soldiers, are basically only doing it for the money. If those men had easier ways to make money, that also included not getting shot at and potentially killed by American Troops, they believe the resistance would be wiped out.

The Colonel's job is to coordinate the laying of the infrastructure they will need to take advantage of the resources that are supposedly abundant in the soils of that Country. It's like fighting a war by using your MBA. This guy believes he can make a difference, and so do I. He is committed and was as an intelligent a human being as I have ever met.

Additionally, the dude is a career Military Officer and his re-assignment to Mac Dill was just part of his job. His Wife and family are in another State, and he will commute back most weekends, but the reality is, He believes what he is going to be doing is worth the inconvenience to his personal life. Dude is Awesome. Dude makes me glad to be an American.

March is looking solid

Hello March!

Lots of good things going on this March. We got through our quarterly board meetings.

-

My Daughter got accepted to an elite program for High School. (she will turn it down because she is waiting on an even more elite invitation.)

-

Kenny Chesney is giving a concert later on this month and I am going, so that is good.

-

The NFL extended the deadline for a day, and maybe thats just to try to show us fans that they are working on it, but that is better then when they scheduled a meeting and blew it off because its just to hard to argue about money.

-

Looking forward to this Saturday in Ybor City with the beer fest they have going on. that will be fun.

-

My Hamstring is getting better and I think I will be able to run again soon, in the mean time while I have not been able to work out I have been good about watching what I eat.

The Storm are going to be playing again soon as well. Good Month March.
