FLORIDA FOOTBALL and BRAVEHEART, an analogy

In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace fights for the freedom of Scotland.
-

For the Florida Gators, Wallace's role is played by John Brantley. They were both leaders.
-
John Brantley is a hell of a football player, just like William Wallace was a hell of a Warrior. -- All Wallace and Brantley want, is a chance to lead the rest of their crew, the Florida Gators, and the Scottish commoners, respectively, into battle. Wallace to stop the tyranny of King Edward Longshanks, and Brantley to stop The evil Empire that is Alabama Football and Nick Saban.
-
The guy with Leprosy, that ultimately betrays William Wallace, is played by Steve Addazio. -
-
All Leprosy dude wanted was for his Son, Robert the Bruce, to become King of Scotland. If He believed in William Wallace, then he would have put his support behind him, but alas, he did not, He believed in making a deal with King Edward Longshanks as the way to best ensure his son's position in life and thus betrayed Wallace. Leprosy dude, loved his son and wanted him to be king of Scotland with all his little leppard heart, just like Addazio Loves his boss and truly wants him to be the King of College football as well. Its just that his ideal on the best way to get that done, is by betraying Brantley. Addazio is fundamentally wrong in his ideas of how to best achieve the goal of making Urban Meyer King, and does not see the correct path to achieve the end result he does truly desire.
-
Addazio believes in a system, more then he believes in the players he actually has, so instead of making a deal with Saban, in this analogy, he makes a pact with an abstract Ideal of an offense and calls for Brantley to run options to the short side of the field, and throw underneath routes, mixed in with a 170 pound running back slamming himself into 300 pound defensive lineman.
-
Urban Meyer is like Robert the Bruce, the son of leppard dude, and presumed leader of the Scots .
-
Bruce believed in William Wallace, but his loyalty to his father the leppard, was stronger, so he participated in the betrayal of Wallace against his own better judgement.
-
Meyer has so much Loyalty to Addazio that he stands by and watches the betrayal of John Brantley in particular and the Florida Gators in general, and even participates, by not exercising his own better judgement and authority as the head coach.
-
Before Meyer lost it, and quit, to only come back a day later, he had a quarterback similar to Brantley in Chris Leak, but that was before he had a lepper as an offensive coordinator. That was when he had Mullen, who actually believed in the players.
-
When Urban and Mullen put their support behind the players in 2006, they conquered not only the Evil Empire that is Alabama and Nick Saban, (Bama was not yet Bama then, but hey, its an analogy) they conquered the entire College Football World.
-
They have a model to use, but choose instead to use a different model that was fundamentally different, because the 2008 team fit well into the system that Addazio so loves. He cannot see the forest because he is staring at the individual trees and trying to make them into Oaks or something, while the trees he is actually looking at, are more like Pines and need to flow a little bit and throw the ball up the field. ( I think of Oaks as Runners, and Pines as throwers, because pines tend to flow a little bit more when the wind hits them, that's just me though)
-
Lets finish this movie up without Brantley Screaming FREEDOM just before he gets his head severed from his neck. I Urge Robert the Bruce to stand up to the Lepper and put his foot down. Use all that five star talent like an ordinary fan can see it needs to be used, rely on that solid defense and model the 2006 team, not the 2008 team. Tebow Plays in Denver now guys, don't imagine Burton is the next coming. Tebow was special. Burton is just an above average Freshman right now.
-
Go Gators.
