Gasparilla this past weekend

Took my kids to The Gasparilla Parade this weekend. It was the grown up one, but it was fine. I pointed out lots of drunk people to them. That was kind of interesting. Saw a few girls Flash their boobs for beads, but my kids didn't. They overheard a little bit of rough language and a gay guy accidentally elbowed my daughter in her shoulder as he came down from jumping up in the air to snag some beads.

The lady in the photograph below flashed them a little bit, but as this is a PG13 type of blog I only posted the one that kind of insinuates what she was doing as opposed to actually showing it.

A Photograph I will not be taking.

When the Fighter Jets fly overhead at the Superbowl, just after the end of the Star Spangled Banner, and right before Kickoff, I am not going to try to take a picture, because seriously, photographs never do that particular moment justice. Better to just be in the moment than try to capture it.
-
I will get chills and freaking goosebumps all over my body. Not just from the flyover, but also from the whole day. It's just a celebration of all that is good in the world. Yes, it's just a football game, but it's also an Iconic, American event, is what it is.
-
There is so much anticipation and excitement in the air, that when you are breathing, you are not just sucking in Oxygen, you are also filling your soul with euphoria, goodness and an overall sense of well being. Its like having a genuine smile, except its not just your mouth and face doing the smiling, it's like your whole body is just one big smile itself.
-
So yes, I could take a picture of the planes, but I would never be able to photograph the way those planes, and that day, makes me feel.

Grateful

Dude just wants his Stapler. Give the man his Stapler.
-
I certainly have a stapler at work, so I've got that going for me. I also have a "Home" Stapler. I am basically blessed with Multiple Staplers in my life. Also, My office isn't in the basement, and my home is in a desirable neighborhood.
-
My Dad bought me an Awesome HD Flat screen Television for my Birthday, and my Ex-wife is currently not suing me. I live in a Great City in one of the few states in the country where their is no state income tax. I have two great kids, and some friends as well.
-
Basically I was just thinking about some stuff that I don't have, and I remembered seeing this picture earlier and it got me to thinking about all the stuff I am grateful for.
-
In Summary - Glad to have multiple staplers, two great kids, a really good job, Friends, a currently non-combative Ex-wife, A dad who loves me and also bought me a Flat screen DVD.
Love where I live and basically I am Just not doing so bad.

It is on Star Island in Miami.

a brief "readers digest version" of this weekend

The weekend ended up a little different then I planned. Went and saw some Hockey on Friday Night in a suite. Then I Had a few drinks after that at a bar right by my house and met some Women. They asked me to come up to a different bar with them, so I did. Then after a little while, they ditched me, but I wasn't ready to go home because I was channeling my inner 22 year old self. That guy could flat out get in some trouble. So I went to another bar and met a couple of other women.

-
Got up just in time to be 30 minutes late for my t-time. Opened up the first hole with a par, later on I had a birdie, and in between I three putted a whole bunch, while trying not to throw up. Ended up shooting a 112.
-
Got home about 5:30 and watched some football and napped till about 8 p.m. Got up, took a shower and went out to dinner and then clubbing again, this time only until about 3 in the morning. Watched football and napped on Sunday. Never even left my apartment. Good weekend, but damn I spent a lot of money.

Me helping out the children of Third World Countries.

Little children in Africa or India are going to be wearing Oregon Ducks' National Championship T-shirts since the Ducks lost the Mythical National Championship game against the Auburn Tigers, and are in fact NOT the National Champions.
-
Sidebar: - (WooooHooooo SEC!)
-
Back to my point though, Before a Game such as what we had on Monday Night, T-shirts are printed out for both teams so they can have them immediately after the game. The losing team's stock is generally shipped off to Third World Countries and given to the desperate people of those little backwards ass places.
-
In India they might sleep 9 people in an 8x10 hovel of a home with an aluminum roof that makes pinging noises when it rains and also leaks, and some of those people will probably use their Oregon Duck National Champion shirts as Pajamas. I don't doubt those shirts are filled with Fluorescent Yellow and Fluorescent Green ugliness that kind of shines. Some of those people wearing those shirts, will be sleeping next to their kinfolk who are wearing their very own Buffalo Bill's Superbowl champion's shirts.
-
Kids in Third World countries must have a really skewed sense of who wins National Championship Football games and Superbowls.
-
So Third World Country kids, Listen up. The Auburn Tigers from The Southeastern Conference actually won the National Championship this year, and The Buffalo Bills had a Nice run of making it to the Superbowl 4 straight years, but alas they never won.

A Quote from Bull Durham

On the one hand we kicked some ass tonight in Softball, on the other hand we also got our asses kicked.

-
We played a doubleheader. The first game we beat em down bad, 26 to 14 or something like that. The next game we got wore out, 18 to 6 or thereabouts.
-
It was just like life. Sometimes you are the bug, sometimes you are the windshield. In the first game we were the windshield, the second, we were the bug.
-
Had fun though, throughout. Okay, Not so much in the second game, but still, its just hack league softball, so although getting beat down is not fun, ultimately the beat down we put on the other guys was. Its Ying and Yang. The post game beers and the running of the mouths was all good.
-
Life balances out. Mostly in my life, I win. If you average out my personal wins and losses in life, I have a positive, over fifty percent or more. Doesn't mean I don't think about the losses more than the wins, I do, lots of times you, me, we, think more about the losses because we think the wins are supposed to come. Probably the wrong attitude. Just enjoy the process, Learn from all of it, and try to hit the ball where they aren't.
-
"Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains" - Crash Davis
-
Ultimately, that's how life is. Not just in hack league softball, but in all of it. it just is. You win some, you lose some, and sometimes it rains.

Mythical National Championship game has some Rhythm

Nice Rhythm going on in Glendale Arizona tonight. A little chess match of a National Championship football game, with some big and fast dudes getting all bishop like with the diagonals, and then rook like with the straight down the field fastness.
-
Really enjoying it, but also know at the end of this game, it's also the end of the season. We will get that little inoculation shot in the spring, then we wait till late August for it to start all over fresh like.

My Boy the Defensive Specialist!

My son pinning his man into the corner at his basketball game. He actually plays pretty tough Defense. He runs and does not leave his guy. Plus he reaches for the ball and stole it like 4 different times.

He wears that glove because he thinks his hand is not right, ever since he put it through the glass window of my entrance door back in July. He is channeling Michael Jackson.

Make your Dash worthwhile

So sorry I missed the Tim Tebow documentary tonight. I was out living my life, Hopefully it will be on demand soon, although I don't know for sure what it was called. I know they usually wait about 24 hours before they put it up on that feature but how do i search a show in which I don't even know the name. Will start with looking up "Tim Tebow Documentary." Will quit looking, only after my fingers are tired from using the remote buttons.

-
On your tombstone, will be your date of birth, and the date you die. in between those two days will be a dash, that represents your life. Go out and make your dash worth something. (to paraphrase Tim Tebow) .... I did find the trailer on the internet...

2011 here I come

Just now catching my breath. Glad 2011 is here. The last month of 2010 was hectic and stressful. Not to say it wasn't also good. Went to some cool parties and dinner things- (missed some as well ) hung out in Miami for a week with my dad. Saw my Grandma, Did X-mas with the X-wife and kids up in Gainesville. Along with the other Christmas with my Dad and my kids in Miami. Saw the Bucs Play in person twice in December, and then of course the Mighty Gators opened up the New Year with me here in Tampa.

-
Basically I quit working out during the month of December as well, and I paid for it tonight. I Can not believe how quickly you can get yourself out of shape. Usually I run/walk a little over 5 miles in an hour on the treadmill. which is at least a 12 minute mile average. (most of the time I actually get 5 miles in 55 minutes and kind of just walk the last 5 minutes or so.) Not tonight though. I wasn't feeling it at all, and basically just let myself walk allot more then usual. Getting old is a bitch. Anyway, although I did basically take December off, I was pretty good most of the other 11 months, so I don't feel like I was a new years resolution type guy tonight. It really is me. I go at least twice a week and usually 3 times. True thing though, in my mind I am doing a little bit of resoluting because I am thinking I will step it up just a little and shoot for a minimum of 4 days out of 7 in the gym for 2011, and giving myself Next December off again. Will see if that lasts, but I am extremely confident in being able to at least make it 2 or 3 times a week.
-
So here are a few things I want to get done next year besides go to the gym 4 times a week on average.
-
1) I want to travel more. I have two trips already planned. Dallas in early February, and Baton Rouge/ New Orleans/ Denham Springs in Early October. - I definitely want to go to NYC some time this year and I would also like to make it to Vegas and up to Nashville again as well. Thats five out of state trips and two of them are already scheduled. just need to make the other 3 happen some time this year. I will of course make many trips to Gainesville as well, but thats just part of my life-- NYC and Nashville are my priorities and honestly I believe Vegas will have to wait till 2012 (only so many dollars and time off I can take, coupled with the time I will take to be with my kids) Okay, I probably wont make Vegas but I am still listing it.
-
2) I Want to read at least 24 books this year. I didn't keep track of it this year, but I believe I only read about 18 or so as best I can figure from trying to remember, and looking at my library. Counted 15 that I am pretty confident were all this year, plus I remember giving 3 other books away after reading them.
-
3) 192 blog posts for 2011 is also my goal / plan. Thats an average of 16 per month, which is about 1 every other day. Its also 1 more than 2010.
-
4) Hopefully at least 1 or 2 of those blog posts per month will be something well written and funny.
-
5) Get a passport before the year is over so maybe if everything goes well financially, I can take a trip out of the country in 2012.
-
Thats it. I have some other ideas of things I want to make happen at work as well as in my personal life, but am not going to list them.

The year of the billster

New Year is Here. Gonna be the year of the Billster
