Soon, Football Season 2010 will be upon us. I like to think of it as a grand orchestra playing a concert. It begins with a lone piccolo playing a few notes, and ends with that same piccolo holding a low C, as it slowly fades into the nothingness that is the off season. In between, there will be crescendo's and explosions. There will be trumpets blaring, Saxophones on long runs, complemented by the Tuba's setting the beat, in short, the music will be alive and your eyes and ears will be like taste buds just eating the whole thing up.
-
Last night the piccolo was the hall of fame game, next weekend some flutes and clarinets will begin softly joining the music when the entirety of the league gets their first pre-season games in, but even before that, you will hear a snare drum slowly and quietly reverberating that is "Hard Knocks in the NFL" first episode is August 11th at 10 p.m. on HBO

Last night was the stretching of our legs to loosen up just before we go on our 5 month odyssey of a run that is the football season.
-
It was that first few individual raindrops before the downpour.
-
It was like the little house salad you are served just before the 48 ounce Porterhouse.
-
It was like when we first started sending Consultants to Vietnam to advise the french, in the late 1950's before the full U.S. involvement of the war in the 1960's
-
It was like a lone scout riding ahead of the cavalry.
-
It is the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year.
