Rainey's Pumpkin

Chris Rainey is going to be back for tomorrows little Cocktail party. --- Pretty Sure Addazio is going to have him alternate with demps in running into the middle of Georgia's Defensive line.

Liz Murray, A book review, and general appreciation.

Finished reading " Breaking Night" by Liz Murray, with tears running down my cheek. - I just Couldn't help it, that woman is inspirational, and her life story is incredible.I say that, realizing I am giving up my masculinity to a degree by admitting this,..... I don't care.
-
This book moved me, and it makes you contemplate lots of stuff.
-
For someone to be homeless at fifteen years old, and a Harvard Graduate at twenty nine, well, that's just three standard Deviations on a bell curve right there, hell, it may be four standard Deviations.
-
You can be born into a rich, loving family, have all kinds of support in the form of love and guidance from your parents, have access to the best tutors, and the best prep schools etc, and still, Harvard may reject you.
-
In the game of "Getting into Harvard" some of the best of the best, get rejected, and they are playing on a level field. Liz Murray's field was a boulder ass, gravel strewn, up hill Mountain of a thing.
-
The field she dealt with had all types of venomous snakes, poison Ivy, empty syringes and weeds all over that thing. ----Life wasn't fair to Liz Murray from the beginning, but Liz Murray kicked some ass anyways.
-
Honestly, she is a great human being. She made something of herself and did it with out becoming bitter towards her parents. She loves them, even though they clearly and obviously failed her miserably. This, in and of itself is quite awesome.
-
Her ability to accept responsibility for herself is like being able to figure out addition and subtraction, but then suddenly comprehending calculus. Nothing in her life trained her to take that type of responsibility, except for her inner soul. and most inner souls just don't get calculus.
-
She took responsibility for her life even though, by all rights, she should have failed.
-
Quick Summary.... Life will throw a sledge hammer on your head.
Duck the sledgehammers that are flying at your head, see if you can eventually grab a hold of the wooden part of that hammer, and re-direct it to the point that you end up giving speeches with the Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton and other high achievers.-- Have a movie made about your life, reconcile your family, and make the world your oyster. Never quit being yourself and always send out the love vibes. .
-
For all that is good in the world, buy this book, read it, then buy another one to send to someone you love.
-
Signed, -----A guy who will buy multiple copies of that thing so I can not only send it to people I love, but also people I just like allot.

-

Thank you Liz Murray, You inspire me.

Florida Georgia Week

It's Florida Georgia Week. - Ordinarily this is one of my favorite weeks. It's something to look forward to, It still is, I just don't know if the Gators can hang with them this year.
-
Our offense is all about lousy play calling and resultant three and outs that seems to be our weekly Game plan now, except when we fumble the ball away and don't even get the three and outs, and all we get are the "outs".
-
My Goodness, look at Mark Richt being all tough in front of all those sorority girls in the background. - It just strikes terror in the heart of all Gator Fans this year.

Plus look at their nutty fans with all the nuttiness.

-
I missed the Gators this past week while they were on bye. I did watch that Auburn LSU game, and luckily for me I pulled for the LSU Tigers from the initial kickoff until the very end when Cameron Newton was elected Governor of Alabama. Its four weeks in a row pulling for a team that gets beat. Maybe this week things will be different.

Photos and stuff from this past weekend with my kids

Some Random Photos of this past weekend with my kids.
-
Right before this picture was taken, they were arguing with each other and I told them
to shut their pie holes in an Angry type voice. They Immediately went to manipulation mode. They posed for this picture all sweet like, and went over the top with being loving to each other.

This photo was at the park. Instead of watching NFL Football I was playing Frisbee at the park with them.

It was just in the news today about that Beer Can looking building that the development company has not been paid by the leasor since July. The development company is suing the Leasing Company. The Tenants have evidently paid the leasing company so they might end up getting the ultimate beat down on this deal. The tenant is SYKES. they are a Call Center Company. Bet you thought all those companies were in India. Well here is one of the last remaining American Call Centers and it looks like they are going down if the leasing company is going to mess up.

This is the newly opened Children's Museum. I have not yet taken them to see it but Will do so in the next few months. In the background is an apartment building that I would love to move into, but the rent is still a little bit to steep.

The full height of the Building I want to move into.

My Boy, wearing his Tony McCoy Jersey. --- McCoy has been playing okay so far in his rookie year but he still has Zero Sacks. He needs to ramp up the pressure for the 3 and 2 Bucs.

My Eldest and my Youngest, Being Nice to each other.

My Eldest making "Cute" faces and My Boy with Googly eyes.
Some more Cuteness.
My Daughter. - True Story..... She wanted to go see the movie Social Network very badly so even though I suspected my son would not enjoy it much I decided to take them anyway (I also kind of wanted to see it, and figured I would buy the boy some popcorn and candy and he would just deal) He ended up liking it so it was a win, win, win situation.
-
After we parked my car in the Garage area for the Movie Place. My Daughter found a Dime on the ground. She said: "Look Daddy I FOUND A DIME" Its so much better than finding a Penny! Its kind of like finding Ten Pennies! - Its just so much more efficient to just find one Dime than to have to find Ten Pennies ! - Its true, and it made me laugh.

-
On Saturday we went to Three Stores to find her Halloween Costume. Finally she absolutely fell in love with this M&M costume and we got it for her. She said she is going to hang it up on her wall after Halloween so its not only a costume but its also going to be some ART!

Sadness

Steve Addazio --- Look at all the sadness. It's everywhere. You are destroying a beautiful College Football Program almost single handily. Little Girls are crying on my blog because of you.

- Steve, This little girl is Sad because you don't have any rhythm in your play calling. Not only do you not have any rhythm, You don't seem to understand the game of Football, which is really strange considering that your job is Offensive Coordinator of a perennially top ranked College Football team and that in and of itself is also sad.

(photo from pfs)
Hot chicks are sad because of you STEVE. -- Look at her, she is hot, and she is sad, and you made her that way. She can't bare to look because it hurts her eyes. Steve, Quit hurting our eyes with your silly little ideal of play calling. Quit making everyone in Gator Nation Sad.
(photo from pfs)
Steve - These College Kids only get to go to Florida for 4 or 5 years or so, and now forever and ever they will have to reference this year of their college careers as "that one where Steve Addazio made me sad"

(photo from pfs)
This is your boss. He is Sad. You have made him that way. He Likes you though and evidently has a high tolerance for Sadness so he puts up with you instead of demoting you. He is ultimately responsible, and if you are still there as the OC in the 2011 college football season then Me and hundreds of other thousands like me will quit being mad at you for making us so sad and re-direct the sadness to him. (I will put up with him making me sad for much longer then I can put up with you making me sad, because he was so good to us since he has been here. He has a 3 year sadness leash with me. Your sadness leash however is all used up. You made me sad some last year, but it has only gotten worse this year.)

-
Steve ---- That is a Sad Tear. It is a tear filled with memories of how it did not used to be sad around Gator Nation. Steve - do the right thing and turn in your resignation. Sad is no way to go through life as a college football fan.

Bruised and battered but we still have a chance

Lets say you are standing out in the left field common area at a Major league baseball game. Lets also say a player is on the verge of Hitting his 74th Home Run of the season. You have your ball glove on, and you are just hoping beyond hope that when it flies out there towards you, that you are the lucky one to catch it. That ball may be worth a million dollars.
-
Obviously you are not the only one with that ideal though. There are many others also in the same area with their ball glove on, and they want that Million dollar ball as well.
-
As the player hits his shot, you see it coming your way but the guy next to you puts the pointy end of his Elbow in your Eye Socket with some serious velocity. (That would be Alabama knocking you down.) It hurt allot, but you get up from it as the ball is still sailing towards your general area, and you try to position yourself again. Just as you get up though, another dude wearing an ugly looking yellowish ball cap just clobbers you in your Jaw with a right cross, also knocking you down on the ground. (that would be LSU)
-
This ball though, was hit really high in the air, and you have time to get up a third time to try to position yourself to catch this Million dollar ball. You are still in pain from the elbow thing and the Right cross thing, but even with all that, you never suspect that the little fourteen year old boy is going to kick you in the nuts knocking you down once more (that would be Mississippi State)
-
You get up again, and now you see that although the ball has landed, no one caught it, and it is rolling around on the ground. Incredibly, even after getting your Eye Socket jammed up and your jaw busted. and your Balls are bruised from the kick you took from the fourteen year old. (He really doesn't have a chance to get the ball anyways, but he still felt like kicking you in the balls for the hell of it) you feel like you still have to dive into the scrum to try to come up with that ball.
-
I will end the story here. That's where we are at. We have had our ass kicked by two dudes that also want that million dollar ball, plus a little kid who will have no chance of getting it, but enjoyed punching us in the balls anyway. The ball is laying there for the taking and we are actually in a good position to dive on it. We are still clueless about the other people that are vying for the thing as well though. Pretty sure there is a dude with as good an angle to dive on that ball as we have, and that dude seems like he is more capable than us. (bigger, stronger with better coaching and the scent of Lattimore on his person) nonetheless, that million dollar ball is right there just rolling around and available for us to get. --- God help us.

Addazio, Quit being so Damn Selfish.

I have so many thoughts about the State of the Gator Nation. - I will have to try to put them together on this blog in a way that does not come off like I believe I am entitled to be a fan of a Great College Football team, Cause I get it, that is a privilege.
-
Anyway, I don't have the energy to write about it now, but I intend to, either Monday or Tuesday... I do want to say this though, FUCK YOU STEVE ADDAZIO, YOU SELFISH PRICK! -- Do some self Evaluation. QUIT SCREWING EVERYTHING UP. YOU ARE THE MAIN REASON WE SUCK. WHY HAVEN'T YOU ADMITTED YOU ARE IN OVER YOUR HEAD?

An Ode to Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Its Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Which reminds me of Steve Addazio. He is the lump in the Titties that is the Florida Gator Offense.
-
- Saw a womans shirt that said: " Yes they are fake, My Real ones tried to Kill me"
-
Addazio is trying to Kill me with his no play calling delusional crap he has going on in his head.

Mary Louise Parker and I are breaking up

I feel like Mary Louise Parker cheated on me with that Sex Scene in this weeks episode of Weeds. --

What it must feel like to be a Yankee Fan

The NFL has decided to Hire Marissa Miller as an official spokes-person for the league. The news release I read, said she is going to specifically help in promoting the Forty Niners Game in London. She will evidently do other promotions for the league as well.
-

-
Evidently, Males age 18 to 35 are huge fans of Marissa Miller. Pretty sure that is the wheelhouse area for Fans of the NFL. Not knocking it at all. Even though I am outside that age bracket, I am also a big Fan of both Miller and the NFL. They should call this the NY Yankee's Move of publicity spokespersoning. They are just adding more goodness to what is already a great thing.
-
This is what it must feel like to be a Yankees fan. - You have all the awesomeness of the NFL already, but you don't stop there, you keep looking for another CY Young type Pitcher or Left Handed Power Hitter - Miller Is Like the Left handed power Hitting, 99 mile an hour throwing, Cy Young Pitcher of Beautiful spokeswoman-ness. --I can see how those Yankee fans like that.

Florida Still Controls their destiny ... Yada ... Yada ...Yada...

As a Gator Fan I know you, and you pulled out that line shortly after Terence Tolliver hauled in that fade pass in the South End zone this past Saturday. Its the one about still controlling your own destiny for the SEC. It goes like this: "All we have to do is win out in the SEC and we can still go to Atlanta" ----- (Here is a photograph from ESPN showing he had posession and the ball .._)
-
Here is another bullshit line: - "No I am going to leave her, and we will be together in the future, Promise, just wait till my kids are a little older and then you'll see. We will be together."
-
So, could he break up with his wife of 20 years, only to settle down with you? I guess it could happen..... Could Florida somehow beat Miss State, Georgia, Vandy and South Carolina? I suppose so. -- .. when you look at it individually we will probably be favored for 3 of those 4, and the one where we aren't, is in Gainesville, so we certainly have a chance.
-
This is where I try to help you. Don't get sucked in, He is just using you for Sex on the side, and will never leave his wife, and the Gators are not an SEC championship caliber program this year because we have the wrong Offensive Coordinator gumming everything up.
-
Its like when he takes you to a nice dinner first before going back to the hotel. That's the same thing as a Brantley to Moore 51 yard catch and run. Its nice, It just doesn't happen that consistently. He'd rather just go right to the hotel with you, and that's about the same metaphor as Addazio doing that little Delayed handoff for Demps to crash up the middle. That play worked when Tebow might not give it to him and actually go the other way with it once in awhile, not so much anymore.
-
Its good to have "hope" but you need to think about it for the long term, not somehow muddling through those four games left on our SEC schedule undefeated and getting the opportunity to meet up with either Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, or LSU in Atlanta. That will just turn out bad for ya... what you need is the kind of Hope that if Meyer is not big on demoting Addazio back to Line coach, that maybe Foley will see the issue and get it done for him.

A link to Pat Dooley's Column

For a slightly different perspective then my last post, here is Pat Dooley's column from todays Gainesville Sun.
-
http://www.gainesville.com/article/20101006/COLUMNISTS/101009603?p=1&tc=pg
-
of the things he talks about in this article I am guilty of some, and not of others.
-
1) I do want The Florida Leadership to let Brantley do Brantley like things
2) I do NOT think its time to go in another direction at QB. Brantley is talented he is just being misused.
3) I do think Addazio is in way over his head. In 2008 he was an excellent Line Coach. but the Peter Principle is on full view here in Gatorville.
4) I do not agree with many in Gator Nation regarding moving Pouncey back to Guard. He had a BAD game snapping the ball against Miami of Ohio, and that brought the issue up to the forefront . He has had a few bad snaps here and there in the other four games, which would not really be that noticeable, except for the focus everyone has on it because of that Miami of Ohio Game.
5) They are not using Demps correctly when they do that silly little play slamming him into 300 lb lineman out of the shotgun formation. He is a Reggie Bush type of guy, line him up at tailback, run some sweeps, with him to keep the defense honest, but have him run wheel routes and swings and just throw him the football.
6) QUIT RUNNING THE OPTION WITH BRANTLEY, EVER...

FLORIDA FOOTBALL and BRAVEHEART, an analogy

In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace fights for the freedom of Scotland.
-

For the Florida Gators, Wallace's role is played by John Brantley. They were both leaders.
-
John Brantley is a hell of a football player, just like William Wallace was a hell of a Warrior. -- All Wallace and Brantley want, is a chance to lead the rest of their crew, the Florida Gators, and the Scottish commoners, respectively, into battle. Wallace to stop the tyranny of King Edward Longshanks, and Brantley to stop The evil Empire that is Alabama Football and Nick Saban.
-
The guy with Leprosy, that ultimately betrays William Wallace, is played by Steve Addazio. -
-
All Leprosy dude wanted was for his Son, Robert the Bruce, to become King of Scotland. If He believed in William Wallace, then he would have put his support behind him, but alas, he did not, He believed in making a deal with King Edward Longshanks as the way to best ensure his son's position in life and thus betrayed Wallace. Leprosy dude, loved his son and wanted him to be king of Scotland with all his little leppard heart, just like Addazio Loves his boss and truly wants him to be the King of College football as well. Its just that his ideal on the best way to get that done, is by betraying Brantley. Addazio is fundamentally wrong in his ideas of how to best achieve the goal of making Urban Meyer King, and does not see the correct path to achieve the end result he does truly desire.
-
Addazio believes in a system, more then he believes in the players he actually has, so instead of making a deal with Saban, in this analogy, he makes a pact with an abstract Ideal of an offense and calls for Brantley to run options to the short side of the field, and throw underneath routes, mixed in with a 170 pound running back slamming himself into 300 pound defensive lineman.
-
Urban Meyer is like Robert the Bruce, the son of leppard dude, and presumed leader of the Scots .
-
Bruce believed in William Wallace, but his loyalty to his father the leppard, was stronger, so he participated in the betrayal of Wallace against his own better judgement.
-
Meyer has so much Loyalty to Addazio that he stands by and watches the betrayal of John Brantley in particular and the Florida Gators in general, and even participates, by not exercising his own better judgement and authority as the head coach.
-
Before Meyer lost it, and quit, to only come back a day later, he had a quarterback similar to Brantley in Chris Leak, but that was before he had a lepper as an offensive coordinator. That was when he had Mullen, who actually believed in the players.
-
When Urban and Mullen put their support behind the players in 2006, they conquered not only the Evil Empire that is Alabama and Nick Saban, (Bama was not yet Bama then, but hey, its an analogy) they conquered the entire College Football World.
-
They have a model to use, but choose instead to use a different model that was fundamentally different, because the 2008 team fit well into the system that Addazio so loves. He cannot see the forest because he is staring at the individual trees and trying to make them into Oaks or something, while the trees he is actually looking at, are more like Pines and need to flow a little bit and throw the ball up the field. ( I think of Oaks as Runners, and Pines as throwers, because pines tend to flow a little bit more when the wind hits them, that's just me though)
-
Lets finish this movie up without Brantley Screaming FREEDOM just before he gets his head severed from his neck. I Urge Robert the Bruce to stand up to the Lepper and put his foot down. Use all that five star talent like an ordinary fan can see it needs to be used, rely on that solid defense and model the 2006 team, not the 2008 team. Tebow Plays in Denver now guys, don't imagine Burton is the next coming. Tebow was special. Burton is just an above average Freshman right now.
-
Go Gators.

We Beatin Errrryyyyy body out here.

Florida LSU is more than just a game to me, its a backdrop to my life

This upcoming Saturday will be the 19th year in a row that NTF and I have gone to the Florida LSU game - a streak going back to 1992. That is longer then my marriage. (married in 93, divorced in 2008) NTF was married when it started, not so much anymore.
-
In that time Three Men have coached the Gators; Steve Spurrier, Ron Zook and Urban Meyer. Five men have coached LSU since 1992; Curley Hallman, Gerry Dinardo, Hal Hunter, Nick Saban and Les Miles. (Hal Hunter never coached against Florida, as he was brought in on an interim basis after they fired DiNardo, but before they brought in Coach Evil)
-
George Bush the elder was still in the White House in October of 1992 when this all started, then Bill Clinton had his 8 year run, followed by the other George Bush's 8 years, and now this will be the second Florida LSU game with Barack Obama as the leader of the free World.
-
In 1992 the Internet existed, as did e-mail, but it wasn't something that was widely used at all.
-
Facebook hadn't been invented yet either. Florida had not yet won any of their 3 National Championships and LSU had just the one themselves from that 1958 season which was before either me, or NTF were born.
-
NTF went on to graduate from College, and then went on to get his Masters degree. I had no kids when it started, I have two now. My Mom was alive when it began, she has since died (November of 2007) I have moved from Gainesville to Miami, to Tampa. NTF from Miami/Ft Lauderdale, to Mobile to Nashville. I have eaten Brisket at his Sister's home just outside of Baton Rouge, Seen her and her Twin sister's kids grow up, on an every other year basis, drank many a hurricane at Pat O'briens in New Orleans as well. One year we took a Limousine from NO to Red Stick and back. (I left my Binoculars on that trip, but I think a Friend of NTF's picked them up) We keep showing up on this weekend through all that stuff, all that life. We have gone to that game with others, (my X-wife, some mutual friends of ours, his girlfriends, his mom, my daughter.) The one thing that was constant was that the two of us have gone in each and every year since 1992.
-
We were nearly shut out last year, but managed to score some tickets. These two teams have never met in Atlanta but if they do, I plan on being their as well.
-
Just thinking about all the living of life that has gone on in these 19 years, its quite the backdrop. Its a thing I do, Its a thing NTF does. its what we do.

Dumb and Dumber

An LSU friend of mine sent me this. Its just funny.

-
LSU fans are so done with Les Miles, even though he is five and 0h so far this season. If Tennessee would have only had 11 men on the field I believe Bobby Jindall himself would have came down from his skybox and fired him right on the spot.
-
Miraculously though he does pull stuff out somehow. -----I still think back to the 2007 UofF vs LSU game in Baton Rouge, he went for it five times on fourth down, and if we just stop ONE of them the Gators would have won. it was crazy.

Urban, don't quit this time.

The last time Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide beat Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators , Urban Meyer quit his job. -- Here in this photograph, is proof of the two of them having a conversation before last nights beat down. Pretty sure Nick is saying: "Urban, just take this beat down, and keep on coaching. You will get the hang of it eventually."
-
-
"Besides, next week you get LES MILES and the Tigers. Did you see the end of that game last night? that was Just Crazy"

(I think this photo personifies that win from last night for the Tigers)
-
True story, A friend of mine that is an LSU fan called me last night and his basic take was that he knows that Les Miles is 5 and 0 this season, and won a National Championship in 2007 but he needs firing ....
-
Here is a photograph of John Brantley last night:
-
(this is a pretty good personification of ALABAMA's Win last night)
-
See how he is face down on the ground? He was only sacked once last night but he was face down on the turf quite a bit. That is not the form you are looking for in your QB. I prefer mine standing tall in the pocket looking down field.
-
Honestly though, as bad as Les Miles time management was at the end of their game, at least he wasn't calling plays involving John Brantley running the option? A personal note here from me to Coach Addazio and Coach Meyer. Tim Tebow plays for the DENVER BRONCOS now, quit calling plays for him to run. He is not playing for you anymore, Brantley is and he has no business running the option, ever. I have noticed however, that he throws the ball crisply and last night when you had him do that and protected him, it worked pretty well. The Gators actually moved the ball very well last night, up and down the field and ended up with more offensive yards then the Tide. Work with that some as the season goes on and also don't quit again.
